Sonic Blockchain Upgrades to Native USDC with Circle’s CCTP V2 Integration
Sonic, a fast-growing blockchain renowned for its stablecoin ecosystem, is set to transition from bridged USDC to native USDC. The upgrade includes integration with Circle’s Cross-Chain Transfer Protocol V2 (CCTP V2), significantly improving cross-chain liquidity and user experience.
The process begins with a temporary bridging pause on May 6, with full implementation expected within one week. Since its December 2024 launch, Sonic has become a dominant player in bridged USDC, accumulating over $480 million in bridged USDC and $1 billion in total value locked (TVL).
This shift to native USDC eliminates fragmentation, providing developers with a more streamlined environment. Existing USDC.e tokens will automatically convert to native USDC, requiring no action from users or developers.
